What is some helpful things you all take or do that help with constipation? I don't want to be taking laxatives all the time. I have IBS along with constipation from the endo so my bowels pretty much just hate me.
Any suggestions would be seriously helpful.
I'm not gonna lie, and no one wants to hear this, tap water enemas. Mine is so bad my upper and lower GI is completely arrested. They're not pleasant, but I simply cannot poop at all otherwise (we're looking into the best place to do an ostomy in January). Here's the one advantage to this, no drugs. If you have a sensitive system ( and lets face, if laxatives will work for you do it) it is an alternative. Avoid the soap and coffee enemas though. They can mess up your natural bacteria much more than just tap water.
I second the non-dairy and fiber suggestions from @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member. Good hydration and psyllium husk power help keep things more regular for me. I take it in pill form, but you could add a spoonful to your morning shake or oatmeal if you prefer. It took some experimentation to figure out how many I needed, but it really helps me! Wishing you the best of luck.
Oh and SandiCarz, you're right. Diet is CRUCIAL
These sound like great ideas that I'm going to look into. I currently take probiotics and miralax daily. I did cut out dairy once before and it helped me feel overall better so I might need to go back to that even though I love it so.
