Painful Ovulation!!
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi guys
I'm just wondering if anyone else suffers with horrible ovulation? It's literally the most painful time I have, I've just spent the night in hospital for pain relief
I have also found the only thing that cuts through the pain is painkillers - a concoction of sorts..
I'd really love so help, does anything work for you? I've been off work for a week now and I'm starting to get bad cramping in my stomach too which I assume is from the pain relief..
Thanks so Much!
Ps I just broke my… read more

I am new to this website, but I joined to see if pain during ovulation is common, as i have it. It feels like I have lead weights inside....pressure, and i have to hunch over when i walk because it feels like its so weighted things will fall out. Its worse pain than when i have my period. I dont understand why this happens. Its been nice hearing from others who go through the same thing. My hot water bottle is my best friend...lol

Hi Tash. Painful ovulation was one of the first signs for me that something was very wrong. Took me a long time to recognise that it was the same time every month but the pain would get so bad that I passed out more than once and was totally incapacitated for around 24 hours. No amount of painkillers helped and I had to have morphine injections a few times. I had tests for all sorts, gallstones, kidney stones, appendicitis etc and when they all came back negative was told I was just 'sensitive' and that lots of women were 'aware' when they were ovulating! It was probably around then that I really started to believe I was going mad.

Thankfully I had an amazing GP who started asking more questions and finally a gynae consultant convinced me to have a laparoscopy and I was diagnosed with severe endo! I was fitted with a mirena coil during my surgery but sadly it didn't stop me ovulating and the pain returned about 5 months later. The only thing that helped for me was the contraceptive pill to stop me ovulation completely. I still have daily pain, some worse than others but at least I don't think i'm going to die once a month now!

My only advice would to be prepared each month - I was given morphine tablets that I only used at those times and basically curled up in a ball in my bed until it was over x

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
This is exactly how I'm feeling and what I'm going through.
