Any Suggestions For Mood Swings As A Result Of Taking Visanne?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been on visanne for 4 weeks now. I've noticed a few side effects however the worst is the mood swings and depression. My friends, family and boyfriend are sick of me and my mood swings because they don't understand what I'm going through. It is very frustrating because this isn't me and im not sure how to control it. I'm just wondering if anyone who has taken visanne has any recommendations on how to deal with the mood swings and if/when they go away? I am ready to stop using it however if… read more

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member If you have severe mood swings and/or depression while taking Visanne - stop it immediately. I'm not a doctor and I can't give you medical advice. But I took Visanne and ended up being suicidal and severely depressed. It is actually a common side effect. I would highly recommend that you look up Nancy's Nook on Facebook and see if you have an Endo specialist in your area. Gynecologists are in my opinion ill-equipped to deal with this disease. You will need excision surgery as this is the ONLY way to properly treat Endo. Visanne, BC and HRT is just a bandage on top of a wound... it doesn't "cure" it actually just alleviates some pain. Excision surgery and a proper diagnosis is the way to go.

I feel the same way. I'm on my 2 months. When I talk to my doctor about the acute back pain I'm having, the blood spot and drastic mood swings, he said to me it's not related to the med. The worst thing is that before he prescribed to me Visanne he did not even advise me about the side effects. Reading all of this on the internet is frustrating and all the symptoms I'm having. I live with my fiance and it's really affecting our couple. No one seems to understand how I feel. Please help me.

I'm not sure if you are still taking Visanne and if your mood swings have improved, but if it has not then stop the meds. I took it for 3 months and became severely depressed and suicidal. It really does not get much better, for me personally it just gradually got worse until I realized my relationship and emotional well-being were suffering as a result.

I have a bottle of Visanne waiting to be taken since my partial hysterectomy. I have read so many reviews like yours that I am literally afraid to take it :(

I’m on Visanne and I’m struggling with mood changes, brain fog, lack of motivation, difficulty concentrating and generally just feeling emotionally flat, if that makes sense. Fourteen years ago I quit hormonal BC over similar side effects. I’ve taken Visanne for a year now and though the severity fluctuates day by day, it seems to be getting worse. The trouble is that my disease got drastically worse last year and the Visanne is the only thing keeping it under control, so I don’t know what to do. I can say that if it’s affecting your mood, that side effect probably won’t go away. I hope you get some help and answers from your doctor and that whatever you decide to do, you get all the support you need.
