Is It Time To Consider Surgery?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm in my 20's and have not been officially diagnosed because I have yet to have the surgery to confirm, but have family history and horrible periods. Due to this information my doctor has put it at a 90% chance I have endo. Im wondering if I should start to possibly consider surgery
When I'm on my period my body responds as though I have a horrible stomach bug. One second I'm fine, but as soon as I start to bleed I began having strong cramping throughout my pelvic floor. If I'm not quick… read more

I would definitely consider the surgery dont wait until the endo takes over your reproductive organs and cause infertility. You should move forward in my opinion.

That is part of. Dioxin exposure is also another big one. It is a lot to take in at once, I found it easiest to make small changes every few weeks until it just becomes natural. Meditation or mindfulness is another one I'm currently struggling to add to my regime, I'm told without that nothing else you do will work. So - meditation, diet, lifestyle. Even as little as 5 minutes a day of quiet focusing on your breath, cutting out gluten, dairy, dog, red meat, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, processed foods, fried foods. Swapping all of your personal care products and household cleaning products to natural ones. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables, especially dark leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables. High fibre, anti-inflammatory.

What kind of changes would you recommend. I've heard of something called the endo diet, is this what you are referring to?

I would recommend taking a close look at your lifestyle and making diet and lifestyle changes prior to opting for surgery. Once you get that part figured out if you are still in pain then have excision surgery done and keep on the new endo lifestyle and you should be feeling good again with no medication.

I think your symptoms sounds like endo :( I do believe surgery would be a good option for you, after also found that after surgery doing pelvic floor physio has helped too. In the meantime you could ask your doctor for voltaran suppositories - i know this doesn't suit everyone and I though it would just be another medicine that wouldn't work for my pain, but they have helped me heaps. If you do decide to head down the surgery path, make sure you get them to take pictures whilst there in their. I have had three surgeries because they have missed things and would hate for you to have a similar experience! Best of luck with everything! Let me know if you have any questions about anything! Your not alone on this journey! :)
