I was recently diagnosed with stage 4, severe endometriosis by laparoscopy. Had a mirena IUD placed to stop the periods to hopefully stop the rapid growth of the endo.. however i am now 4 months post op and not experiencing much relief at all. The IUD has stopped the bleeding but i still get all the symptoms i had before. My doctor recommended lupron but that is a very heavy medication with terrifying side effects and I am only 20, so this is not something I am comfortable with. Does anyone else… read more
I did do the Lupron shot and was informed that it could make it harder to have kids which is my biggest fear. But I have been looking up and working different angles to help with the process. There are foods that have the hormones in them that flares the endo. Maybe you should look up some endo diet lists. I know dieting has helped except the occasional cycle flare up, I’m doing pretty well.
Did you have excision surgery done by an excision endo specialist? There is not a single drug out there that actually suppresses the progression of endo. All birth control, or drugs like lupron do is possibly put a bandaid on your symptoms. I would seek out a true excision endo specialist. But if it is not possible for you to have surgery from one right now... I would suggest trying visanne instead of lupron for short term until you can get the proper surgery. It seems to have less harsh side effects compared to lupron. But again, all it will do is mask the symptoms. Excision surgery by a vetted endo surgeon through Nancy’s nook on Facebook will be able to cut out the disease and give you your quality of life back.
Have you tired the Depovera shot? It gives the same hormone as the IUD, but in big bursts.. it helped me for about 8 months so far...
I have stage 4 endo and on Zoladex injections, 2nd round now. I know when you read about side effects it can be daunting, but it doesnt mean that you will get all of them. The injections that I am getting put my body in a menopause state, but I get such a relief from not being in pain! I have tried all sorts of pain relief, even steong opiods, and nothing helps. This is the only option for me that works
I agree with the depo shot to regulate symptoms. It seems less harsh than lupron. I have been on it for a couple months wih minimal pain.
