How long has it taken for anyone here to get their period after stopping Visanne?
I stopped mine on 23 February and for the last week and a half I have felt like I have my period, but there is nothing at all.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I didn't have any weight gain with Visanne. I suffer from depression, but it also didn't have too much of an impact on that. My main side effects were headaches, hair loss, insomnia.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I finally got my period on 24 March, so exactly 4 weeks after stopping the Visanne! Thankfully it hasn't been as painful as what it used to be, but still bad.
I stopped mine on 24 January :) Two months later and I've experienced that sinking period feeling multiple times but no period at all. How long did you take Visanne?
Hello everyone I stopped visanne last year 2022 Nov or Dec. Since then my periods have been weird and I honestly was on it for two weeks took like a week to get back onto it (due to traveling) then I stopped it again bec of the symptoms. My periods been irregular after I stopped it I had a normal period the next month it was super light the month after I had experienced two periods in one month. And this month it's late by over a week. It's Feb 2023 does visanne cause this? Or is it another problem I feel concerned because in the future I want kids and what if I can't have. I know everyone's bodies is different but I haven't experienced irregular periods until I stopped that horrible pill. Thoughts?
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member 2 months and 5 days and mine still has not arrived. Should I be worried? I mean, it could probably just stay away forever for all I care :D
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Full disclosure, I actually have a history (and it's still a bit of a battle) with eating disorders so with no other option but to take these pills it has been a crazy stressful couple of years. The majority of birth control tablets can cause a fluctuation in weight due to the effect they have on your blood glucose level which in turn affects your appetite. And if you say you are depressed or are experiencing depression-like symptoms, that can also influence your appetite. If weight gain is a massive concern I'd suggest chatting to your doc and asking them if a combination pill such as Qlaira is maybe a better long-term option. My husband told me that the Visanne actually caused me to lose weight so it really is a case by case thing. I am more concerned about your depression. Mine got pretty bad. I didn't realise how bad it was until I started contemplating rolling myself out of a moving car. I became really suicidal and numb, angry and aggressive. If you are experiencing anything that makes you feel worried - you know your body better than any doc - quit Visanne and look into a non POP (Progesterone Only Pill). A friend of mine who recently had a laparoscopy and pretty invasive Endo was prescribed Qlaira as she couldn't use Visanne and she says she is really pleased with the results. Personally it didn't work for me, but it really is worth a shot first.
