They won’t know what they are looking for to be able to tell you or anyone else what you might be dealing with. And if you are going to go for surgery you might as well have anything they do find removed in the same surgery so as to reduce the number of times you are being put under and cut open. You should really start by having a conversation with an endo specialist to get their opinion before heading off to surgery.
A true excision specialist will remove everything he/she can during surgery. It isn't worth the agony of more than one surgery with a surgeon who doesn't know what to look for. Trust me. I had three with a surgeon who said she "knew" what she was doing and looking for, took down adhesions but left all of the endo inside me. Unless I have a GYN cancer, I will not allow her to perform surgery on me again.
You should definitely have an endo excision specialist perform your surgery!! I highly advise against having a general obgyn cut you open. They don’t properly know how to recognize all endo and excise it.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member, Dr. Robbins is amazing. I have heard ONLY good things about him. I suspect I have diaphragmatic endo due to the pain I feel there.
I am looking for a surgeon now who will perform surgery on me. I pray that G-d guides his/her hands when I have surgery.
