Does Anyone Know If A Laporoscopy Would Show If You Have Endo Behind The Bowel & Bladder?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm asking bc I was diagnosed with that in 1984 & it was never completely removed bc of the location. If it was never removed, wouldn't it still be there?. I ask the dr's & they say when you go through the menopause it all goes away. Well I don't think so from what I've been reading. Does anyone have the knowledge on this subject. If I go through another Lap & they can't see behind those organs, then I would be doing it for nothing. My Primary says if I go through another lap that I would be… read more

If u have a dr/surgeon that knows what they are doing, then yes. My dr has removed endo from those locations on me

You need to find a doctor that does a full evaluation, including scoping your bladder, uterus, and rectum as lesions can be inside those organs. From what I understand, you have the best chance of remission if all of the lesions are removed. Apparently many of the lesions don't look like classic blue/red tissue. They also should all be sharp dissected, not cauterized. It sounds like there are a lot of ob/gyns that do lap surgeries, but they don't necessarily know what they are doing to remove all of the lesions.

Menopause doesn't kill the adhesions- they make their own estrogen as well as their own pain.

It would depend on how good the doctor was, if she/he could identify the endo there from a scope. I had a urologist tell me I had it on my bowels based on tapping the inside of my rectum. It all depends on how good the doc is. If the doctor knew what he/she was looking for, then yes, they could see it behind the bowel and bladder. I would assume they could see it on the front of your bowel and bladder too because it's been growing all this time, but I"m certainly no doctor, just a woman amazed at endo's ability to grow everywhere and anywhere.

Thank you so much for all your feed back. that was so nice of you to look that up. I will look into it. I had never heard of it before. I also started to have dense breasts & that is why they took me off last year. I know there no good for you but its a half of month now & my pain has eased slightly but not enough. Thank you again.
