E Coli And Endometriosis
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know if there is a connection between e coli and endometriosis?? Or enterococcus. I had DNA testing on my urine and they continue to find high levels of both bacteria despite antibiotics usage. I know alot of women with endo suffer from frequent uti's but trying to figure this out....

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member...Ask your doctor for a Rocephin IV push, followed by a 30 day series of oral.

Levaquin is an option, too. Both of these can be tough on your body, but necessary if you have a resistant UTI.

Neither Bactrim or Cipro work for me. My clean catches are "clear". My cultures are off the charts when I'm crippled with flank and low back pain. I self-diagnose, and GP treats aggressively. I've required ER trips if on weekends, but those doctors can be dicks!

One told me that CT showed a "colon full of stool and bladder full of infection". I have strictures and crimps in my colon, which becomes severely distended. The expanded colon "chokes" my bladder, often preventing it from fully emptying. The stagnant urine is a petri dish, unfortunately.

E-Coli is a nasty lil mofo to beat down, for the female anatomy, especially. The proximity of our rectum, vagina and urethra make UTIs a continuous struggle. I will share with you my GP's theory. She asked if I flush my poop while sitting, to which I answered "yes". I always flushed immediately to rid the smell. (I have to take Trulance, which gives me squirts, so it's not a one and done.) There can be a splash factor. (yep) She said DON'T flush while sitting. The toilet sprays a fine mist, filled with bacteria, when it flushes. Gross as it is, imagine that bacteria filled mist reaching your urethra.

STAND before you flush! If you need proof of theory (I did), flush an empty commode in well-lit bathroom. You will see the mist spray into the air.

YES, I FREAKED because I am a certified germaphobe. I shower twice a day already. I feel like I use a roll of Mega Charmin Ultra per day. I have raging 'roids even after 2 surgeries to remove. So, I've gone one step further for my own peace of mind. I installed a hand held bidet both at home and in my private office bathroom. It allows me to thoroughly rinse front to back, after pooping. Extreme? Perhaps, but I now have less UTIs.

Sorry if I made you feel a lil vomit in your mouth. Knowledge is power, though it ain't always pretty=D

Sometimes they half to use a more unconventional med because of mutated resistance to regular antibiotics.
