Visanne - A Contraceptive?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi ladies,
I would like to know if any of you have used visanne with no contraceptive method.
The timing is not right for me to have a kid now. Both my gynecologists said it can be used without condomns as a contraceptive but I called the lab which said it hasn’t been tested as a contraceptive so they can’t advice to do so.
So I would rather have first hand experience from women who have used visanne with or without non hormonal contraceptives.
Thanks a mill

I was on visanne for 2.5 years and didn’t use any other form of contraception. The progesterone stops you from ovulating but because it hasn’t been tested in that way they legally have to tell you to use alternative contraception to avoid a lawsuit. One thing I will mention though is that it is critical you take the pill at the exact same minute each day. I made the mistake of taking it within a 30 min window, and while I didn’t get pregnant I did develop a cyst which burst because my ovaries tried to ovulate.

I haven't had it myself, but have seen on the posts that you still need contraception. Hope this helps x
