visanne and IUD

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone used visanne and kept in their IUD? I know it's not super recommended because of blood clots but it's not supposed to be used as a contraception method on it's own. I really don't want to go back to barrier methods and was wondering what other methods people used while on visanne.

Thanks!

Hey, so my iud ended up being removed, not because of hormone issues but because my cervix was rejecting it which contributes to my pain

Thanks, I just talked to my gyne today and he said I could use both with out too much concern so I guess I'll just keep the IUD in

I used both to try and control my Endo and was fine but I have been told by both my surgeon and endocrinologist that you can use visanne as a contraception (it’s as effective as the pill) but like the pill you have to be a stickler about the time you take it and I always used condoms just in case.
