Does Surgery Affect Ovulation?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know if surgery messes with your ovulation? I'm guessing it could. Had an endometrioma removed from my ovary almost two weeks ago - my period came right as expected after surgery, bit heavier than normal but otherwise the same as always. We are trying to conceive and got back into having sex after my period, as instructed by my doctor. I've been using ovulation tests for the past few days to track things. Usually I'd be very fertile at this point in my cycle, or actually ovulating… read more

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member well that sucks :( do you think maybe there's some scar tissue from the op causing you pain? I guess it's entirely possible your surgeon missed some too. My surgeon also was not an endo specialist but she did specialise in laparoscopy and frequently operates on endo patients.
I am also getting stabbing pains in my left ovary (the one that had the cyst), but as I'm not even two weeks post op yet, I am putting it down to the ovary still healing. Plus my body is definitely gearing up to ovulate now, I did a test this morning that came back with high fertility. Maybe my left ovary is trying to ovulate? Personally I think it should just have a break and let the right one take over lol.
Other than that though, my pain has improved a lot.
I hope you're able to get to the bottom of your pain, could you maybe go see an endo specialist and ask their opinion?

I have this same question. Since my diagnostic lap in July my pelvic pain is 110% worse now. Constant sharp pelvic/ abdominal pain all month then ovulation time is now downright debiltating. Severe Stabbing pelvic pains feels like my right ovary is dying with constant cysts bursting. My lap showed on my left ovary a small endometrial cyst and my lower right side bowel had adhesions that glued a single bowel loop and appendix to my pelvic brim pulling it into an acute angle next to my righ ovary. Btw i didnt have my surgery with a endo specialist so im wondering if i have more less obvious endo implants going on that my obgyn didnt see
