No More Hormones
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is anyone not on any type of hormonal treatment? (Birth control , etc) How is it for you? Doctors seem to scare people and tell them that their endometriosis will grow if they don’t take birth control pills. Is this true? Are you obligated to be on hormones with endo? I know endometriosis isn’t progressive for everyone but I’m also scared that having periods will damage me in the long run. My endometriosis is mild and doesnt seem to give me a lot of problems except for some mild occasional… read more

There are many women on here who go all natural and don't take the BC or have any hormones.
But we are all different. We all react differently to everything.
If you want to try it then do it. I say we should all try every option throw at us. As we never know what will work for us. Sadly as endo is hormone based, we will never react the same to treatments.
It's definitely worth a shot. Better than a more serve treatment x 🎗️💛

I started it when I was like 14 but I was on a strong 3 month one Called Daysee and had no problems but then I had to change because of my insurance and everything went downhill from there I started trying different pills then on SPRINTEC I started spotting and bleeding every single day , They changed me to a different one recently after my laparoscopic and I was still bleeding and spotting so I pretty much said f*** it , After my surgery I was put on Anastrazole which I’m still on ( it’s supposed to keep the endo from growing) no doctor knows what’s wrong with me because my uterus is fine ( no fibroids cysts etc) So I figured these stupid hormones is doing more harm then good so Tuesday I got fed up and stopped taking it I can’t stand bleeding or spotting everyday it’s annoying and I rather have regular menstruations and pop some ibuprofen when I get cramps then all this bleeding so i wanted to expirement and see where this goes . All doctors like to do is prescribe BIRTH control, that’s their solution to everything and honestly it’s so annoying. Endo gets worse when your inflamed and most foods cause inflammation so my doctor put me on a diet and I feel like it’s been helping with pain , @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member

I’m in a similar position being told that contraceptives are the only answer aside from a larascopy. I’m routing for the iud because I had a very negative experience with the pill. However i’d prefer none of them. I heard a lot about people with an iud who later on have trouble conceiving. This makes me very nervous because I am young and want children in the next 10 years without a doubt.

I've never taken any type of birth control and refused the Lupron shot that my doctor recommended. Honestly I think my endo would be the same with or without it, so I'm not interested in messing around with my hormones.

You are not obligated to do anything, but yes, reducing oestrogen and promoting progesterone hormonally is how they can limit the growth of endo and often quite successfully help reduce pain and other symptoms. So, hormonal treatments are so highly recommended because its the only way to stop endo charging ahead. Reducing bleeding = reducing opportunity for endo to grow. But you are not obligated and there are also so many different methods of hormonal treatments to be on. If you are only on the mirena you can mostly naturally cycle, however, a pill will cycle you that way. Ask your gyn xx
