I frequently experience partial blackouts when I go from sitting to standing: my field of vision narrows and darkens considerably and I get dizzy. It resolves in 3-10 seconds. It has gotten more frequent since the onset of daily endometriosis pain 14 months ago. It happens multiple times every day. Has anyone else had experience with this?

I've brought this up to gynecologists when I go to discuss endo and PCOS treatment, but they aren't too interested.

Members shared deeply relatable experiences of frequent dizziness, narrowed vision, and fainting when moving from sitting to standing, with many noting these episodes worsen significantly during menstrual periods and can happen multiple times daily. Several members described potential causes discussed with their doctors, including orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure drops with position changes), heavy menstrual bleeding, dehydration, low blood sugar linked to PCOS, and a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) that affects blood flow. A recurring theme was frustration with doctors dismissing these symptoms despite their frequency and impact, paired with encouragement to keep advocating for answers, checking medication side effects, staying hydrated, and asking for referrals when primary providers cannot explain what is happening.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Thank you for that information; I really appreciate it! I was not familiar with POTS

It happens to me when I go up stairs or when I'm bend over and stand back up. It also comes with a rush of pain from my pelvis to my toes. All lasts about 10 seconds total.

I'm going out on a limb here but this used to happen to me a lot during my teen years. It turned out i was suffering from low blood sugar, although a cause was never determined. I noticed that you mentioned PCOS in your question, have you been diagnosed with that? Because i ended up on a diabetic medication for 7 years (although not diabetic) to control those symptoms and it worked well for me. I know that is a common treatment for PCOS so i figured it was worth mentioning.

Hope this helps!

Are you on any meds that could be causing your blood pressure to drop when you move from a sitting or lying position? Many meds can cause this as a side effect. It is called Orthostatic Hypotension, if this is your situation. I don't know the facts of your case, nor could I give out a diagnosis obviously, but it would not hurt to look it up and discuss it with your dr. If no answer is given, ask again until you receive an answer, even if it's Idk. Then, tell him/her you are concerned about it. What can be checked out? Or, if you cannot answer my ?, who can you refer me to who might can? Good luck !

From my experience I told my doctor that this happens and they weren't too concerned about it because all my blood work and labs would come back normal as far electrolyte balance. I don't have a diagnosis of hypotension or hypertension, never have and my blood pressure is always normal, until I have my period and experience hypotension then is drops. The doctors have told me that it can be because of my heavy periods, but outside of my periods when it happens they say dehydration or extreme fatigue could be the cause.
