Periods
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So, i've previously had doctors tell me that my endo wouldn't cause the weird bleeding issues that i have. But i just don't buy it. So i wanted to ask if this happens to anyone else:

After having endo surgery in 2016 my periods changed. They're shorter, and lighter (although not less painful.)

In the beginning of 2017 i stopped getting periods altogether, after roughly 3 months i went to the doctor - who said it wasn't endo and put me on birth control (only took it for a couple months cause… read more

You don’t have to have the polycystic ovaries to have PCOS. I don’t have them but I usually have 1 or 2 cysts on my ovaries when they check. Do you have any signs of high testosterone or blood sugar dysregulation?

I know forsure that my thyroid is okay. My mother has hypothyroidism from Hashimoto's disease, so doctors have been monitoring mine since i was a kid.

I've questioned pcos. I've had 3 cysts rupture since August and have had other issues that led me in that direction, but was told that if i don't show consistent cysts on ultrasound that my ovaries aren't polycystic 🤷‍♀️

I have seen both gyne's and reproductive endocrinologists but nobody has tried to check my hormones. Guess i'll need to push for that next

My cycle varies from 28 to 90 days long but I have PCOS as well. Have they tested you for that? Unfortunately you can have it on top of endo. Or if your thyroid goes off it can affect your cycles too. If they tested your hormones you’d likely get some answers.

I can relate! I haven’t had erratic periods and bleeding to your extent, but it’s been problematic. I wonder if you could have your hormones checked to see what the issue would be? Are you seeing a gunocologist or reproductive endocrinologist? I hate when doctors just hand out meds like it’s not big deal. I don’t want to put a band aid on something! I want to find the issue and treat it!
