Are These Symptoms Normal For Visanne Or Any Other Endo Meds?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
I was recently prescribed Visanne and I'm having symptoms that are affecting my life quite a bit.

I have constant hunger, it always feels like I haven't eating in days
I'm gaining weight. As in a few pounds a day, at this rate I will be severely overweight in a few weeks.
I have acne all over my face, my neck, and my back.
My breasts are so sore and they are growing. Which is awful for me because I don't even want breasts.
I am so exhausted I'm falling asleep while working.
My… read more

Ive also had weight gain since I started visanne last year August. I stopped gaining last month. I lost my appetite as well. I havent lost any of the weight though. The depression comes and goes. It is uncontrollable. Its just sudden bursts of depression even if everything is going well for me, which is sometimes confusing.

Im still exhausted. I havent had a day I felt rested. Hope that is not the same for you.

Ive had sugar cravings when I started visanne, so lots of acne until about december.

I had no pain for a month after using visanne and I would joyfully take that one month back, with its acne and weight gain.

I wish you all the best. Try different diets. Moderate exercise. I do not know what helps with the depression.

Big hugs and hang in there!

Hi there

I started talking visanne jan 2017. I started same day when my period started that month, it was the best one i have ever had.

Less bleeding, less clots, less pain and short span.

Usually i bleed heavily for the entire week. Blood clots size of my palm, excruciating pain.

The month i started was my last period, i was moody in the beginning, increased appetite. My period stopped entirely.

After a year i decided to stop to see if my period would come back and it did however i was taking 14 high scheduled pain tablets a day and still had pain. I was concerned not having a period will affect my fertility.

I went back onto visanne as i couldn't deal with the pain any longer and i went for a second opinion who also assured it will not affect fertility.

Honestly beside worrying about not having a period and if it will affect fertility, visanne has been the best thing ever!. Yes i did gain weight, loss of sex drive but not as bad as most would think loss of sex drive is and from a C cup i went to a D lol

Visanne is not a contraceptive so you can fall pregnant however a higher chance of eptopic pregnancy. However i havent fallen pregnant.

Remember any medication will affect everyone differently. What works for me wont necessarily work for you.

Hope this helps

X

Hi! I hope it’s not to late to answer. I started visanne in December and at the beginning I had the same symptoms (breast sensitivity, depression and feeling sleepy all the time). Now everything is a little better I haven’t notice a big difference in my weight and my breast are still sensible but way better than before

My period stopped completely since January. Still having some side effects but getting better every day

I am on it for 6 weeks now and I feel the same and I know how annoying it is
But please don't stop it without asking your doctor
Maybe it will cure the endometriosis symptoms after all or at least make it better
You are not alone
Always try to have someone to talk about all the symptoms and the mood changes with, sharing really helps

I started it almost 2 weeks ago and I have noticed that I am retaining water big time, I am super tired and unmotivated. And the biggest thing is that I am super depressed. I feel like I am in such a bad place and I don't know how to get out of it.

I am thinking of stopping it as I don't want to feel this way anymore.

I hope you are feeling better now.
