Wondering For Those Of You Who Reacted To The Mirena, At What Point Did You Realise It Wasn't Working For You ?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I know a few people who love the Mirena and it works really well for them, but what happened to those of you who it didn't work for? Did it disagree w you straight away or after a few months? Thanks in advance for sharing..šŸ˜Š

I had it for about 11 months. I have struggled with numerous kinds of hormonal birth control options. With that in mind, my doctor at the time wanted to give it some time to settle, so to speak, and see if the side effects would work themselves out and lessen over time. I had bleeding (light to moderate) for the first 8-12 weeks, and then frequent breakthrough bleeding. Next came the fatigue, bloating, trouble losing weight, and acne. The pain didnā€™t improve enough over that time to make any of it worth it. I couldnā€™t take it anymore after almost a year and finally had it removed. With other forms of birth control it took several cycles to become symptomatic with terrible side effects, others, it was immediate.

The doctor started her on Visanne to try to help with the cramping . She said if the mirena pain settles then she can stop the Visanne but if it doesnā€™t then sheā€™ll take out the mirena and continue the Visanne . From what Iā€™m reading , the Visanne has horrible side effects so Iā€™m crossing my fingers that the mirena pain will settle . Good luck to you .
