How Long Did It Take Period To Stop On Depo Provera?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I got my 2nd shot and am still bleeding, this week was even worse than the 1st shot...I am running out of options. My medical insurance doctor wont do surgery yet, as she wants me to do lupron or orilissa. I don't want to, as these cause bone loss and possible other issues, as well. Anyone had the same dilemma?

I was on Lupron with what they called an add back which was norethindrone to help prevent bone loss. Helped me a lot with the pain.

I forgot to say about the Dr refusing surgery. Look for another Dr. You don't have to be trapped by their own options for what they wanna use. I refused hormone therapy treatment based on the fact I've got cancer on all sides of my family plus I already have precancerous lesions in my uterous. I ended up in a screaming match with two separate Drs over it. One wanted me to get gastric sleeve and exercise and he was the cancer dr. The other wanted to pump me full of hormones cause I was too bitchy as she called it.
I told her you put me on hormones and I will end up behind bars. I kind of go menopausal on em..it's freaky..I hate it. So nope no hormones, no uterus and one less ovary. I'm still in a mini menopause though. Which figured.

Hello Endoalummi,
I've a few questions about your case with the endometriosis first before I can tell you what's going on. Since those depo shots are meant to take on the first try and rarely go to the need for a second one this would definitely depend upon your hormone levels at the time of the first shot and exactly what type of endometriosis you've been diagnosed with. Yes there are greater evils to this thing there's the basic where you have scar issue, some polyps and maybe a good chance of cysts. Then there is endometriosis with hydroplasia which can cause a lot more complex issues with more fluid retention from excessive cysts popping, inflammatory response syndrome, a higher amount of hormones by far and a lot more tissue.
My gynecologist actually found hernias caused by endometriosis tears when I finally got worked on. I've also seen a step further on that scale and that's hemoratic endometriosis, in this development well it's not all the patient or genetics, I know one person that had this. She also has the depo shots. The only thing I can say is when you succeed in getting everything shit down do not and I can't stress this enough let any Dr give you any hormone therapy treatment.
Because if you have hydroplasia or hemoratic endometriosis it will bring that tissue back with a vengeance, with or without a uterus.
Also since the shots not working your next step is probably going to be surgery either uterine blaizen, or a partial to full hysterectomy. I would recommend the second choice the uterine lining grows back very quick with endometriosis and it's even more inflamed than before. Course that was my personal experience.
If you decide on hysterectomy I recommend getting it done through surgical laparoscopy less down time and easier to heal.
I did see the thing about your insurance now I don't know anything about your income obviously but there are medical programs online depending upon your state and income you can try for.
This is something that effects your well being so it would count under them. I've had to look them up for myself a few times when I needed work done and no insurance, well good one anyway.
Good luck
Rhonda
