Endometriosis, IBS, or something else?

Endometriosis, IBS, or something else?

Before Christmas I went to see my doctor as I had a weird pinching sensation in my inner thigh and had been experiencing pain during sex for a number of years. They did a smear which came back clear (my previous had shown abnormal cells). I then had an upset stomach after eating at a restaurant in the few days running up to Christmas, and since then my stomach hasn't really entirely settled down, with a combination of loose stools and mild constipation.

I agree with Ikelen. I'm so glad you're seeing a specialist. Would you be comfortable sharing which one?

Pelvic pain and alternating between constipation and diarrhea sound like endo. I also have those symptoms. It's good you're going to see a specialist. Please keep us updated !

I'm glad you've got a 'partial' answer. Sorry, no experience with Zoladex. But I'm wishing you the best of luck. You might research Zoladex on endofound.org?

Thank you for the update ! I'm sorry you (most probably) have this debilitating disease, but relieved for you that you can finally name what pains you.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Saw the specialist today and following an internal scan she is pretty sure that it is endometriosis.
She found that my ovaries were partially stuck, and found something between my uterus and my bowel.

She has recommended that I have an MRI scan so they can assess the extent before surgery. She has also prescribed me zoladex for between now and the next appointment at the end of August.

Does anyone have any experience of Zoladex? I am nervous of it as I know it must contain some powerful hormones.

Feeling pretty shell-shocked at the moment.
