I still think I have endo behind the bowel & bladder bc it was never removed so I was wondering if the MRI would show anything?. I have heard others say it shows endo but then I heard it doesn't. Just trying to look for answers.

Members discussed whether MRIs can detect endometriosis behind the bowel and bladder, with experiences varying widely, as some found their deep infiltrating endo was clearly visible on MRI while others reported that even severe endo in that area never showed up on imaging. Several members shared practical strategies for managing claustrophobia during the scan, including taking a benzodiazepine like lorazepam or Ativan 30 minutes to an hour beforehand, choosing open MRI machines where the head and feet hang out, and consulting with a doctor to determine the right dosage to stay calm without being overly sedated. A recurring theme was the frustration of needing definitive answers when symptoms suggest deep endo, the importance of advocating for thorough imaging despite its limitations, and the reassurance that while MRIs can sometimes detect advanced stage or large endometriomas, laparoscopy remains the gold standard for diagnosis.

My endo was only diagnosed by MRI, I had so many ultrasounds, x-rays, physical exams, colonoscopies etc. and it took an MRI before they found anything.

Definitely discuss appropriate medication dosage for the procedure with your doctor.
