Do I Need To Stop The Combined Pill Before Surgery?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,

I have my laparoscopy next week and I've been taking the yasmin pill with both breaks for 3 months as advised by my surgeon but he didn't tell me to come off it before surgery. Is that normal?

I'm stopping it today anyway as my body is hell bent on having a period and I just need to get it out but I will only have been off it for 6 days before going in for the op.

I never had it :( I waited in hospital all day and when the surgeon came to get me he noticed that the nurses hadn't taken my urine sample for testing and it was too late at that point to get it tested and do the surgery! My new dat is 6th September. I've started taking the pill again as they didn't mention it!

How did it go? I always asked my doc about what he or she wanted me to do before surgeries. I think it's a case by case basis as to whether or not they have you stop the pill.
