This is my first ever surgery so I'm looking for any suggestions or tips
Make sure you follow all of the pre surgery rules given by your surgeon. If you have a friend or family member, ask them to go with you... Bring something loose to wear home after the surgery. I also bring a few teddies with me - but I guess I'll never grow up. I had to stay the night - and luckily i had a private room (guessing my surgeon is a GYN oncologist) and my mom was around to help.
I had my first & I Hope last surgery last week. For hospital-Peppermint tea, flannel & favourite shower gel, throat sweets, baggy nightie were all helpful. Started getting out of bed (with help) the same day - getting moving when itβs safe to do so is really important (just a hobble to the toilet.) ask for anti nausea medication after surgery if you feel really sick. I felt sick the evening after surgery & within 30 min felt 100% better after anti sickness injection. one week on and Iβve been walking more each day, napping lots and I feel pretty well π Sending you best wishes for Wednesday.
I've had many surgeries, not for this problem of course at least not yet. Only thing I can suggest is that you get something for nausea (just in case).
