I had a laparoscopy on February and was put on Visanne since, which was supposed to eventually stop my period. Instead, I bled consistently for 6 months in a row. A couple of months ago, I switched to Mirena, had 5 nice days of no bleeding and now my period is back again with FURY. I've been bleeding heavily for 20 days now, including huge blood clots (sometimes 4 inches long). My doctor asked me to give Mirena a try for another few months, since it might reduce my period eventually. Can anyone… read more
So I know the mirena is very 50/50 however it was my saving grace. I wasn't able to have any other contraception. Tried the depo and bled for 9 months straight and due to migraines couldn't have a number of other types of contraception, was on the mini pill but it caused a reaction when mixed with another medicine it shouldn't have been mixed with.
When I got the mirena I bled for a few months and also experienced clotting about the size of an eftpos card however I'd experienced it before. I've now had my mirena for a year and a half and i havnt had any problems with it (other than the usual endo problems) I do still get my period but it's not as heavy as it used to be and definitely not having the same issues with it that I did for the first few months. I know its not right for everyone and I was super hesitant about getting it, I didn't trust it. But I'm glad I ended up getting it in the end.
I had the mirena for about 4 months. I hated it. I bled every day. I had the remove it and found out that it had caused polyps. Which theb had to be removed. I know it works dor some women but i would never suggest it.
Thanks so much for your answer. This gives me hope. I guess I will give it a try for a few more months and go from there. I had a Mirena 6 years ago for a couple of years and it did cut my period completely back then, but I guess my Endo wasn't as advanced then.
Scary. Im having surgery enf of this month where they'll burn off follicles that causing my pain then placing a mirena in. Im so not looking forward to it now.
Good vibes to you, and I hope the flow lets up! I am also curious, because I'll be having a third surgery in December and they plan to place my Mirena then
