Has Anyone Been To See A Bowel Or Bladder Specialist?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Surrey England

I’ve had a laparoscopy a few weeks ago, in the operation he also found that my bladder and bowels looked in a really bad state (I’ve always had issues with them but I pelvic issues always out weighed them so I never sourced help to be honest) so I’ve been referred to a bowel and bladder specialist.
I was just wondering if anyone had as I don’t know what to expect as in when they do tests and things?
(He said there was no endo on the bladder or bowels this time 🙏🏻 )

Members shared their varied experiences with bowel and bladder specialists after laparoscopy revealed inflammation, with many describing how endometriosis sitting behind or near these organs caused bowel and bladder issues even when no endo was directly found on them. Several members recommended seeing gastroenterologists or colorectal surgeons for further evaluation, trying pelvic floor therapy for incontinence, and not dismissing ongoing symptoms even after being told organs are clear of endo. A recurring theme was the emotional challenge of managing multiple overlapping conditions alongside endometriosis and the importance of advocating for yourself when bowel or bladder problems persist.

Have you tried pelvic floor therapy? That can help the incontinence. Obviously, after all the drs appts.

Yes. My bowel and bladder were already bad (open lesion/defect spina bifida) so I was already seeing a bladder doctor. I also have something which is called neurogenic bladder which is caused by open defect spina bifida. But none of my treatments were working so I called him up one day for help. Since then I have had more tests carried out to determine severity of the endo.
