Does Anyone Else Get Endo Belly Even After Hysterectomy?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Michigan, MI

I had a hysterectomy for adenomyosis in August and had excision at the same time. Before my surgery, I had chronic “adeno/endo belly” but this is my first flare post surgery. Does anyone else have endo belly post hysterectomy? I always assumed it was my uterus from the adeno.

Members confirmed that endo belly can persist even after hysterectomy and excision surgery, with many experiencing cyclical pain, bloating, and symptoms that still align with when their periods would have occurred. Several members shared that while some saw temporary improvement after surgery, symptoms like swelling, pelvic pain, nausea, and burning sensations returned within months, with one member going symptom-free for a year and a half before endo belly came back. A recurring theme was the frustration and fear of endometriosis returning, the challenge of distinguishing between different sources of pain, and the emotional toll of ongoing symptoms despite undergoing major surgery.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member that’s my constant fear, too.. this is definitely an endo flare but it feels different.. like literally hot/burning but not as bound tight (if that makes sense) like the adhesions did. I’m also nauseous, which really sucks.

Sorry that you're dealing with that, @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member! Yes, I have Endo belly too. Not always, but it's still a pain. I hope that this flare passes quickly and doesn't get too bad!

Are you constipated at all? From my personal experience in the last few weeks I can tell you that constipation can give you bad pelvic pain and bloating very much like endo pain. Endo can also cause constipation so I guess it’s kind of a mix of things. Idk if that’s the issue but I thought I’d throw it out there just in case it helps!

I went a year and a half after my partial with no symptoms, but the endo belly came back as did the rest of my symptoms.

My pain and endometriosis belly hurt at the same time when I would normally get my period if I had one.
