Hi
I’m really struggling with my treatment options. So far I’ve tried visanne - stopped my period completely but I had horrible headaches and other side effects. Next was alesse which was horrid and I only took for three months - constant bleeding and pain. Then was marvellon which worked well for three months but then stopped. I’ve been bleeding since March and the pain is horrible. The doctor at the endo clinic has suggested Mirena next and also suggested staying on the pill as well… read more
I would get a second opinion.. I am on Visanne - but I don't have those side effects.. and I had a hysterectomy
I had a really hard time with birth control pills but the Depo shot worked much better for me. I started out getting the injection once every 3 months as prescribed and now I get it every 8 weeks because I start getting bad cramps if I go longer than that. I also had a laparoscopy, which helped a lot for about 5-ish years with the Depo. I’m having other issues now...but it might be time for you to look into getting a second opinion. The surgery made a HUGE difference for me.
Hey, I had the mirena in twice but got it taken out really early instead of the 5 years as they just didn't agree with me. Bled for months after having them inserted at the same time I had laparoscopic surgery for endo, periods were irregular, the weight gain (which I know can happen with any bc) then after I had them removed there was more endo than there was before they got inserted. Go figure. I've been on various types of bc pills, depo injections, zoladex injections, mirena, multiple surgeries and now after 12 years I'm on the waiting list to have a hysterectomy finally.
Hope you find an option that will work with you :)
Its so rude that they throw the term exhausted around like that. Um, we are COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED!
Im sorry hun. Playing medication roulette is NOT fun. I cant speak to mirena, but i tried Skyla and its not bad once you go through the 3-4 month adjustment period. But it only seemed to help for a matter of months. All my symptoms came back with a vengeance, plus a couple of new ones.
