I am considering yet another laparoscopic surgery (the pain is terrible which has extended to my rectum) and I am stuck in between Dr Camran Nezhat and Dr. Cook. Dr Camran Nezhat has been doing my surgery for the last give or take 8 years but I feel I could truly be better than I feel afterwards as the pains still remain but not as delibating as there were before (That reoccurs about a year after the surgery). He diagnosed me with endo stage 4, adenomyosis, fibroid and cyst.
Thank you
Dr Cook is awesome. I have stage 4 also and like you, I felt better for about a year.
The Nook list is titled "Surgeons_International", you can search for it in the files section of Nancy's Nook. But I have it up too. Dr. Irish Orbuch & Dr. Laurence Orbuch in Los Angeles are a married couple, 2 of the top Endo excision specialists in CA but I don't think they bill health insurance, I've read you have to try to get reimbursed from health insurance on your own with them but you could check to see if that's changed.
Then there's Dr Mallory Anne Stuparich. Dr Mathew Siedhofff, Dr Kelly Wright & Dr Mireille Truong who are all in the same practice with one another. Dr Deirdre Lum, Dr Leon Baginski, Dr Soorena Fatehchehr who did a fellowship at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta which is one of the absolute top surgical centers for Endo. Dr Samar Nahas who is also an oncology surgeon. Dr Sadikah Behbehani, Dr. Diana Atashroo, Dr. Jessica Opoku-Anane. I haven't researched any of these drs so if I were you I'd look them all up individually in the search function of Nancy's Nook. I really hope you can find someone.
I am very grateful for the information, it is so confusing on which Dr is best, but knowing now that Dr. Cook does go not towards the bowels etc, then that changes things for me.
I live in California and would really love the best doctor so to say. I did check Nancy's nook and could not find Dr's in California maybe I searched incorrectly?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member - Yes it is surprising because he is so knowledgeable & even wrote books on endo but even some of the Nook drs don't have training in checking & doing surgery on or within the bowel wall, diaphragm, cardiac, sciatic, etc. So now I am asking all the surgeons I talk to if they routinely check all those area & can handle taking it all out in those locations in 1 surgery, how many of those advanced surgeries they have done, etc.
So far Dr. Cindy Mosbrucker in Gig Harbor, WA can handle all of that, but she only takes tricare and medicare, and Dr. Nicholas Fogelson in Portland, OR can too & he's less expensive & takes all insurance out of network, he will even take medicaid (if you can get them to approve it), which is very rare. The Orbuch's (married surgeons in L.A.) are at that high skill level as well, but neither of them take health insurance. There are a few other Nook surgeons of a higher skill level in L.A. though too, I just haven't checked with them yet about health insurance. It really is shocking how few surgeons in the country can truly recognize & remove everything.
Oh wow. I never knew that about dr cook. I guess I was just happy at the time to start feeling better. Thanks for the info @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member
