A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Does anyone else have really bad leg & hip pain related to their endo? Especially during their period / ovulation time?

πŸ˜€ The best way is to choose one from the list and contact them directly for a consult, they don't require referrals usually. That way you won't be held back by relying on your gyn, because most aren't even aware of excision specialists. Good luck!

Yes. My hip pain is due to an endometrioma on my ovary & the back pain which radiates down my leg is due to my uterine growths which are most likely fibroids. Adenomyosis also causes extreme back & leg pain. So sorry you are in so much pain 😰

If you haven't already seen an Endometriosis expert I highly recommend finding one in the Facebook group Nancy's Nook Endometriosis Education, you can go to the files section & search for surgeons to see the list, then find your state, write down the names of all the drs who *don't* use ablation, then search for their names in Nancy's Nook to see reviews. πŸ™‚ They are SO much more knowledgeable & skilled at treating this disease than a regular OBGYN.

Yes Bright Rain is correct, regular OBGYNs usually don't know about Endo specialists since there are so few of them, only about 100 in the country. We usually have to reach out to them ourselves. They're used to it so they won't question why you're reaching out instead of your dr referring you. The only time you need a referral is if you have Medicaid or don't have any out of network benefits.

I hope you find someone really good! The one thing I would ask your OBGYN is if they can refer you to a pain management clinic for help with this pain in the meantime & then at that appointment you can let them know that you reached out to a specialist. Good luck!

I always have leg and hip pain during ovulation and menstruation. It’s so bad that I have to spend the day resting up in bed!
I take Gabapentin and Duloxetine on a daily basis for the pain as I get shooting pain up my leg too.
When it’s severe I take tramadol.
I find hot baths with lavender oil with a handful of Epsom salt does help me relax and reduce some pain.
Also yoga can be very beneficial if you can do gentle stretches.
Maybe something you can try?

I did, it would flare up with ovulation too. I had constant pain in my hip every day. When it flared it hurt to bend down, lift anything or sit on hard surfaces & I had bad sciatica down my leg. Mine was on the left and that's where they found my bowels stuck all the way down the side, with my fallopian tube stuck to my bowels + endo on my uterosacral ligaments and other places. It feels so much better after excision
