My endometriosis expert wants me to try a new nerve medication called Lyrica (pregabalin). If you've tried this, did it help with your pain? My most severe pain is actually in my sacroiliac joint & the muscles & ligaments around the joint. It's specifically for nerve damage from spinal cord injuries (I have a herniated disc & either pinched or entrapped sacral nerves).
Since my flight from Hawaii to Portland for my surgery I've been having stabbing pain in my SI joint as well as spasms in my… read more
My Dr had me try both that and cymbalta but I almost died from both bc I got serotonin syndrome bc my levels were normal so being put on those meds messed with my levels and ended up in ICU for weeks holding on to life. But that is super super rare. Most drs have never seen it, only read about it in med books.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member 💛 I had a pelvic nerve entrapment when they put me on the gabapentin but it didn't even help my nerve pain so they ended up removing it with open surgery. As for the other meds, it seriously is one of the rarest things to get serotonin syndrome. I'm one of the only cases I'm my state according to the drs. But if you start to feel dizzy with terrible headaches and passing out, go to the hospital asap!
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member my symptoms happened within the first 2 days. And I was also on gabapentin a long time ago and after being on it fir so long I had terrible side effects. Glad to be off that one.
My mom is prescribed Lyrica for her neuropathy in her feet. I have had two fake discs put into my cervical spine bc of severe pain and numbing down my arm. I was put on gabapentin which is for more immediate action and lyrica is maintenance taken daily...but since my mom got her prescription zeroed in for her issue she doesn't need the gabapentin anymore...but she said her feet also tell her when its time to take her Lyrica.
I'm okay on Lyrica. Weight gain is a side effect. I also take Citalopram and Tramadol. I have no issues.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member, serotonin syndrome? I'm happy you're here to talk about it. I'm always afraid of that.
