Has Anyone With Stage 4 Endo Have Their Endo Removed Or "cleaned Up" Through Robotic Surgery? If So, Do You Still Have Pain?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Stage 4 endo with webbing on the bowel, uterus, fallopian tubes and wanted to know if the robotic surgery was helpful? I am supposed to have surgery with also a general surgeon present along with my gyn surgeon, just in case additional surgery is needed sue to the webbing of the endo. How long does the surgery relieve pain for and what's the success rate of having endo removed? Thank you in advance

I had the excision that Dana was talking about above. I had it on the last Monday of January 2020 and for the past 5 months my periods and ovulation have gotten steadier worse and worse due to pain. I read that pain will probably come back after 2 years. I have Stage 4 endo so I'm assuming it's just coming back with a vengeance. I have an ultrasound next month but you know that will only show me the cysts not the endo. I would recommend talking to the doctor. It's a good idea to have it if you don't have major endo or if you want to try to convince. If your not trying to convince it might be worth it money wise and pain wise to just get a hysterectomy.

I have the exact same thing. I had a robotic laparoscopic surgery in 2015 to diagnose and remove the endo. I was excited and hopeful even amid my long suffering battle. The Dr removed as much as he could but the location and depth of my adhesions were so deeply implanted, it couldn’t all be removed through the robotic surgery. By my follow up visit after my post op appointment, the endo had already started growing back. I later did more research and found that robotic laparoscopy is an ablation (meaning they burn the endo off of your organs) which heals and makes the endo susceptible to return. An excision(they cut the endo out instead of burning it off)depending of the severity of your illness, yields more effective long lasting results. Good luck and positive vibes!
