Hey ladies i had gastric bypass surgery two and a half years ago, im wondering if there is anyone else with endo who has under gone this surgery also? I lost over 100 pounds with the surgery which dont get me wrong is amazing but since i had the surgery my endo pain has sky rocketed. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who has gone through the same thing?
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I have started listening to The Cycle. Endo podcast - I listen on Spotify. The woman’s name is Melissa and she interviews women with endo, both in and outside of the states! It’s great, I’m learning so much about everyone’s experiences.
And @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I am so sorry you have gone thru all that. I hope this surgery helps you a ton and that you’ll be back on track to healing.
I’m afraid I haven’t got an answer either, but I agree with Sarkalt.
I had part of my bowel resected and a temporary colostomy bag and then temporary ileostomy bag for a bit over a year due to a surgery that went horribly wrong.
I don’t get pain where the bags were but I have had chronic non stop extreme pelvic pain since.
The surgeon I am about to have a hysterectomy from said that I possibly have stage 5 endo (which I never even knew was a thing) - but relevant to your question - that the adhesions would definitely be adding to the pain.
I have not had this surgery but I wonder, if there is any scar tissue, if that could be causing inflammation; or if something is causing irritation in your body causing inflammation which would make sense that it would be more painful to your symptoms and flare ups?
I know this isn’t an answer but I was listening to an endo podcast and many women who have had different surgeries complain about inflammation and endo getting worse.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member thank you. It has been a really testing, long and difficult road. Thanks for the well wishes, I’m hoping the same. I’ve got 6 more days of bouncing between sheer terror, complete denial and total acceptance.
I am so glad it’s been such a short time between consultation with the surgeon and the op being booked!
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member stage V is rare and still contested as a stage at all . It’s when you have it deep infiltrating all the way through the abdomen and on other organs in your body outside of the pelvic area.
I have been having cyclic nosebleeds for the past year or so - which is not necessarily endometriosis - could be anything hormone related.
My appendix was covered in it and was removed at laparoscopy.
She’s only mentioned it as a possibility so she’s probably just covering bases but at least she is thorough.
