No. Birth control does not stop disease progression.

I was on bc for 10 years and it helped manage my pain to the point I only had a couple days of bad pain that could usually be managed by otc pain relief and a hot pad. But then my body rejected bc. Don't know how common that is. I'm guessing the disease progressed to a certain level where it just doesn't work for me anymore. BC is definitely not for everyone. It will treat symptoms of endometriosis, but not always, and it comes with a host of long-term side effects that doctors don't typically tell you about (for estrogenic bc - high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stomach issues and more)

I suspect thoracic endo so my gyno advised a bc. Since I can't have estrogen, and which is also detrimental for endo I started with cerazette (desogestrel) a month ago. He wanted me to start Lupron, since my endo is so severe and I still want to try I've afterwards. But I didn't want to. My lap is on Nov 30th. So I thought gyno was talking bs about symptom reduction whilst using bc for my (suspected) thoracic endo. But it does help my shortness of breath. I've been severe short of breath for 2 years now. Which gets worse during periods and which isn't my asthma. He says thoracic endo is rare. But I bet its not. I live in Europe in a small country. So it might be rare to him. But idk it is in general. Ive been in my period for 4 weeks starting desogestrel. Which sucks. But it has finally stopped and my shortness of breath has improved. I don't understand how that is even possible. But I guess he was right.

I noticed no change in pain except not having period pain.

As my disease progressed, I became sicker and sicker with more and more pain.

Did you notice any pain reduction from taking it or was it the same or worse?
