Canadian Considering Surgery In The US
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am a Canadian living in Ontario. It’s been over 2 years now since I was diagnosed and I’m so tired of only being presented with hormones or hysterectomy as my only options. I’ve been on orlissa for a year and three months and don’t want to be on it much longer. Birth control did nothing for me and Lupron is a hard no. Orlissa has helped with the pain and bleeding but the side effects are not great and I’m worried about the effect on my bone density.

Dr Vidali in NYC is one of the top centres in the world from my understanding, if you go that route. Or could you ask to switch to Dr Matthew Leonardi at the Hamilton clinic?

Hello - I live in Niagara and was diagnosed with endo over the past two years after i came off birth control to try and have a baby. I am surprised to hear that’s how you’ve been treated at the endo clinic in Hamilton as I thought they were comprehensive and leading edge - I follow one of their Drs on insta and have been wishing I got referred there, but I guess things aren’t always as they seem, or not all the Drs are up to date with best practice? I was referred to Dr Sabrina Lee in North York (via my fertility Dr in TO) - I have had a phone and in person consult with her. She was understanding, thorough, and reassuring. I am on the list for excision surgery. It was 2-3 months for initial consult and then the surgical wait is 4-6 months, but she said fertility patients are prioritised after cancer patients for her list, so it may be longer for you. This was also before the latest surgical shutdown, so add 1-2 months.
