I will be alone after my ride drops me off so i plan to bring a cane to walk up two flights of stairs to get to my apartment.
That might be really hard getting up the stairs. I’d try to find some help with that. For general tips:
-expect pretty bad shoulder pain, they pump the abdomen with carbon dioxide to better see for the surgery and they do pump it back out but often some remains and gets trapped in the shoulders and causes pain. Doing some basic shoulder exercises can help.
-bring a pad for after surgery, there might be some breakthrough bleeding after surgery
-the worst pain for me was showering or trying to twist, so have things within arms reach and plan out so you can avoid a shower/hair washing for the first couple days
Lay flat and stay flat. If they tell you there will be shoulder pain, they mean it! Best wishes (hugs)
I recommend having someone there to help you and/or check in on you.. Heating pad helps a lot and drinking enough fluids with the medications. Before surgery my bf and I set up my "post op" area at home the night before. I chose a room closest to the bathroom. It helps! We set up everything i would need within arms reach for the first 3 days. Water bottles, snacks, laptop etc. I wish you the best with your surgery and a speedy recovery! Take care
