Being 20 weeks and 3 days pregnant
I am concerned about the risks during the birthing process
Sadly, it's a fact that women die while giving birth all the time and women of color like myself die at even higher rates.
Taking this into consideration while having stage IV Endo... I am concerned about risks while giving birth and if there is a percentage/statistic that maybe known of how often do women with Endo die during child birth or within the year of giving birth? As well as having… read more

I did nothing to increase my level of fertility. This was a surprise pregnancy. I wasn't planning or on the path of trying to get pregnant. I was on depo for about a year and stopped it myself without a doctor's consent. It was causing me to have suicidal ideations. My period started back on it's own in less than a year. Then at the end of a 3 year relationship, I found out I was pregnant.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member if you don't mind me asking how many weeks were you when you had both miscarriages?

I don't know any statistics, just my own experience. I have had 2 miscarriages myself. I have stage 4 endometriosis. I had one successful pregnancy. It was the worse time in my life, but still worth it. I developed a silver dollar sized blood clot in the placenta. I made it to 36 weeks before my health had declined so badly that my Dr decided to induce labor. It was a painful and miserable pregnancy. I nearly died several times. Passed out a lot. At the time, my Dr had no idea what exactly was wrong, but she said if I got pregnant in the future I would require blood thinner shots, but I never had any luck after that.

However, by some miracle, my daughter was born, I felt better almost immediately and she surprisingly was healthy. Even the doctors were shocked that we both survived. They said by medical science, we both should have died.

So, just keep trying, never give up, and if you're like me, pray every day. Every woman is different, and Endo affects each one differently. So it would be difficult to find any statistics on this due to the very nature of how widely different Endo effects every women. As for me, I have several other comorbidities that caused my complications, with Endo only being a small part of what caused my issues while pregnant. However the Endo is the cause of my 2 miscarriages.

Hi thank you for sharing. I was concerned about the same things as you. Please try not to worry yourself too much. My baby was born last year. We had him naturally but I think my uterus was weak in some spots from having endometriosis surgery and a septum removed because I had a uterine rupture after I delivered vaginally. I had found a black doctor and felt very comfortable with her. But my doc was not in when the baby was delivered and I had a different doctor that was so busy and yanked out my placenta. The blood all came out after that and my uterus ruptured. I would ask your pregnancy advocacy partner to make sure they don't yank out the after birth placenta, please just let it come out naturally in it's own time. Sometimes doctors are impatient and want to yank it out. At least that one thing can be prevented so you wouldn't have to worry about it. So sorry, don't worry too much and I'm sending good vibes your way.πŸ˜ƒ
