Why Do We Have To Endure An Invasive Surgery To Have A 100% Confirmed Diagnosis For Endometriosis?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My gynecologist told me that she is certain I have endometriosis as well as pcos, with all my symptoms fitting them perfectly. But she also informed me that it would require surgery to confirm it so that I can get the treatment needed. I can’t take time out of work or college to do the surgery and life is miserable living it in pain and sleeplessness all the time. It’s not just a matter of missing out on work or school, it’s the money too. I can’t afford to be off more than a day, and I’ve been… read more

I can't answer why but I agree that it is ridiculous and unfair. I had the discovery surgery just to get told "yes you have it" and had to have the excision surgery 3 weeks later. Such a waste.

Has anyone had excision surgery done by Robert Furr? I have a phone consult with him on Wednesday. He was listed on Nancy Nook's page. Thanks.

I am told he is fantastic. I know he is vetted and follows the footsteps of Dr. CY Liu whose daughter is also an excision specialist.

He left Chattanooga. I will be finding out where he is now.

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member

Yeah, please clarify what pill. Anything that affects your hormones just masks symptoms but does not stop endo from growing and spreading. I'm a huge fan of excision surgery and two friends of mine… read more

Mirena And Visanne Combo?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone
I’m a 19 year old who was diagnosed w stage 2 in my bowel, pouch of Douglas, uterus and cervix! I had an excision late in dec last year and was put on mirena iud. This has helped immensely but I am still in pain every day, and my periods are still awfully heavy! I have been told to take visanne on top of the iud to fix this and to stop getting a period altogether. Has anyone had this experience before? I’m terrified of gaining weight and not sure how I feel about double dosing… read more

Can Endometriomas Reoccur After Surgery?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have 2 endometriomas on my left ovary. I was scheduled to have them removed next week but the hospital cancelled my surgery due to the guidelines for the Coronovirus right now. Since my surgery is postponed I’m taking this time to do a lot of research. I’m learning excision is the best method. I’m wondering how likely they are to return or for more to develop if I’m not on anything after the surgery? My doctor said if I don’t suppress the hormones it will grow back but I thought if they were… read more

Sadly, Endometriosis is not considered an emergency. Acute pain from it could be if it's causing you to pass out or vomit uncontrollably. The best the ER can do is offer you pain medication on site… read more

Is It Possible That After A Laparoscopic Surgery That The Endo Can Come Back?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been experiencing the same thing all over again. My doctor told that they removed all the endometriosis but I feel like it has come back. I mean is it possible within a year or so that it can return. I believe I had my laparoscopic surgery last year or the year before that. Experiencing pain, fatigue, painful with sex as well as periods.

Sex Life And Physical Relationship
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I can count on one hand the times that me and my boyfriend have had sex in the last year- sad I know
I just had excision surgery back in May and of course I'm terrified of getting back on the horse... seemed like an appropriate analogy. We have tried once since my surgery after waiting long enough and it still hurt but at the time I wasn't on any type of birth control so we had to use a condom and my fun parts have never agreed with most types. I'm thinking that was the main problem (more like… read more
