Endo Cyst Question
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Recently diagnosed with Endo. I have cyst on left ovary. I meet with Gyn next week to discuss. I also have health anxiety and would prefer cyst to be removed. What are other’s experiences with this?

If the cyst is small, it can be dealt with meds like visanne (I'm undergoing the same), but if it's too big then doc would like advise removal via surgery. However, pls keep in mind that even with surgery, there's no guarantee that another cyst won't grow, as many women experience within just a few months post surgery. Hence, I'd recommend having a thorough chat with your doc to determine the best way forward for your situation and also the downsides of both meds and surgery. Good luck!

I have multiple cysts, all of which I was told are too small to be surgically removed. I've also not been given any sort of medication to reduce them... with that being said the NHS in the UK is on it's ar*e at the minute :(

I had an endometrioma on my right ovary. Initially I was told if they tried to remove it they may likely have to take my whole ovary. But then I saw an endo specialist and she was able to remove it with good margins without taking my ovary. She also removed a lot of other endometriosis. I guess it would depend on what type of cyst they think it is, if it’s growing and if it’s causing you pain.
