Excision Pain Meds And Recovery Time
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know if varies for each person, but how long did you take pain medications and how long was your recovery after excision surgery? I have an excision surgery and cystectomy coming up soon, and I am getting nervous about the amount of pain meds and recovery that may be involved. Is it worth it?

I was having issues with my endo. I was diagnosed later in life, but diet and supplements have reduced my period pain and other symptoms a lot. Main issue is that I still have severe gas pain during my… read more

After 1 week I could make my own meals and was pretty independent. And stopped any pain meds besides ibuprofen and Tylenol. After 2 weeks I was driving and fully mobile. It's been 1 months now and I can confidently do anything.

EllenMunseb, yes that sounds like a lot to go through. Did your doctor do excision or just remove cysts? Just curious since I haven't heard your doctor's name before among the excision specialists.

My surgery ended up being at Medical Center of Aurora with Dr Roykhman - she's my favorite gyn I've found so far. I'm not currently taking anything besides hormonal birth control to manage symptoms. I had multiple ovarian cysts of different types, endometrioma, lensions, internal bleeding. I'm not sure what stage. I had surgery in May too when an ovarian cyst burst and I had too much internal bleeding, so my body has been through a lot in the last 3 months.

EllenMunson, Awesome. Are you still taking any pain meds, like Ibuprofen and Tylenol? I have an endometrioma and likely lesions (don't know where). Based on the information I was given, I would guess I'm likely going to be stage 3 or 4. How did your disease severity compare, if you don't mind me asking? I just noticed you're also from Littleton, CO. We probably have the same surgion. LOL.
