Hi Danielle, I have the Mirena now 6 years well 5 years n had a new one last year inserted. The first time I had it inserted I was awake n the pain was excruciating I could not sit I just laid the pain was unbearable but the next day it was like boom nothing I felt nothing at all so the Mirena takes time to position its self I think. Second time I was asleep as I had another procedure done same time. But I do know if you paid is more than a week u need to seek medical help the thing cud have moved or is is not in right position n probably needs to be removed. Please go back n they must scan you to check
