Recovery From Hysterectomy
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Greetings. I just had a hysterectomy on November 21 and wanted to find out what I could do to ensure proper recovery and prevention of prolapse. All the people I have Mets and talk to who had u define a hysterectomy told me they were fine initially but had a prolaps.

Definitely a great question! Unfortunately for me, I couldn't prevent a prolapse. I'd been saying for years after the hysterectomy that what I felt was the beginning of a prolapse and no one believed me. It wasn't bad enough or I was too young for that problem... Now, got diagnosed with a complete rectal prolapse, a mild vaginal prolapse and something involving the bladder...so, basically, all organs that could prolapse, did just that. If you come across any research that's helpful, please let me know! I'm looking at a double surgery (excision & rectal prolapse correction surgery) and I am terrified of everything I'm reading cause it seems that once you have a prolapse, the mesh they can put in causes all sorts of issues. There are a ton of recalls for just about every mesh and even if it's done right, the prolapse can happen again and it's even harder to fix.

Hey. I had my hysterectomy on feb 2016, healed well . Took some time to build back my lower stomach muscles. Stopped lifting anything mkre than 20 pounds or else i feel it terribly. I never had a prolapse since. You definitely need to take care of yourself and follow certain instructions. You will know what your body can tolerate as every single person is very different. We can only share our experiences but i guarantee you, your body will respond on its on way and time. I hope this helps. Ask me anything you would like to know 🙂
