My Doc Recommends Mirena But I'm Nervous Because I've Dealt With Cystic Acne Entire Adult Life.
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doc recommends Mirena but I'm nervous because I've dealt with cystic acne entire adult life. Has anyone else with cystic acne in the past been on Mirena? If so, how has your experience with Mirena been? I don't know what's worse...the pain of endo or the emotional toll of acne (and I'm 40 and just figured out how to clear my acne and what the triggers are in the last few years...so we're talking a 25 year battle with acne. 🥴)

I'm not an expert so take this for what you will.
I would usually get cystic acne on my chin (just this huge swelling bulge) right around my cycle. I have not had a single cystic pimple since my Mirena IUD. I believe it's because it's a progesterone IUD, which counteracts estrogen. I believe the excess estrogen is what caused the cycstic acne to begin with and excess estrogen is associated with endo.
I would encourage you to look this up because what I'm saying here is half google and half personal experience.
