TENS Unit And InterSTIM

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have either a TENS unit or have the InterSTIM? If so, what do you think? Would you recommend it to anyone? Did insurance cover it? I just want to see what's available that the doctors may/may not push and what Endo sisters who have used some of these things like those two, RFA or Pelvic Floor PT think before I meet with Dr. Miller.

Thanks ladies!

Members shared overwhelmingly positive experiences with TENS units for endometriosis pain management, with many describing them as affordable devices that can be worn discreetly under clothing throughout the day to provide relief through gentle tingling sensations, though most noted insurance typically does not cover the cost. Several members discussed the InterStim implant as a surgically implanted option that provided modest relief for chronic pelvic pain, with one member reporting about 20% improvement, while opinions on pelvic floor physical therapy were mixed, with some finding it uncomfortable or ineffective and others benefiting from it. A recurring theme was the importance of trying less invasive options like TENS units first before considering surgical interventions, while also addressing the complex reality that many members face multiple overlapping conditions including IBS, interstitial cystitis, and endometriosis that require coordinated care across different specialists.

Thanks Jordan. It may/ may not be an option. I have to see a GI doc. Dr. Miller thinks it's the trifecta....IBS, IC and Endo. I'm just so thankful to finally have answers, someone who took that seriously. It makes me regret not switching gynes offices years ago. I have to have a U/S this week to see what kind of cyst it was in July. After I meet with the GI doc, it'll be laparoscopic surgery at some point relatively soon. :/

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I had the same trifecta for quite awhile and now I am also most likely looking forward to another laparoscopy as my upper GI tests all came back negative (which is good I guess, but leaves me in pain with no solid plan of attack.)

Please keep me posted-I'm rooting for you!! <3

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I am SO happy that despite not having the TENS your night was a relatively good one! I normally don't speak for others, but it's safe to say that here, I and everyone else, will always be around to cheer you on <3

There are some reasonably priced ones out there. How old is it? Here's the link for where I bought mine:

it's worth the price, they have great customer service and replaced mine for free when I wore it out after constant use for 2 years!
