Does anyone find it hard to think and speak when you're in pain?

I've had intense pain since the start, but I was used to having really intense fare ups that would last for a day or two and then I would recover. As I've gotten older I've noticed that I'll have a constant level of lesser pain everyday but it'll go on for weeks and I won't be able to think.
