Curious what everyone's recovery was like from your lap and how much time I should take off of work. I am a banker so not much movement and I could use a sit down desk if necessary.
All three of my surgeys where different. This last one I had I was up walking around in the 4th day but I still am having pain if I do too much and it was a month ago. It just depends on how much they have to do in there and how well you tolerate pain.
I have a desk job, too, and I was told to plan for 2-3 weeks off; then, when I had my 2-week post op appointment, my doctor asked how I was feeling and if I thought I was up to going back to work. I opted to have a few more days off because I was still easily tired out from simple tasks around the house. In addition, sitting at a desk actually uses your abdominal muscles, which will be healing. Give yourself as much time as possible to heal and rest, because doing too much too soon can affect your recovery (I had a day where I did too much, and the next day I was pretty sore). Also, an abdominal binder/brace (I got one from the hospital, the morning of discharge, but you can also find them at a lot of drug stores) can really help with sitting for long periods of time, when you first get back to work.
3 days??? Uh no. Your body was invaded. IT must heal properly, maybe a week or so. I worked physically demanding jobs, so I had to take 10-14 days off for my laps, but even then that wasn't enough time.
The doc said three days and I could be back to work. But I'm really nervous. :/
Post lap i was down for at least 2 days and barely moving for at least a week and that was just diagnosing me..i did not have anything removed and im a pretty tough cookie..you really dont realize how much you use your stomach muscles until you have surgery..lol :)
