Laparoscopy No.1
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was just wondering if it's normal to have had a laparoscopy and some adhesions cut away from the bowel and abdominal wall and NOT be diagnosed with endo by the surgeon? I had this in oct 2014 but he said it was just adhesions, he couldn't tell me what they were but said they weren't in the right place for endo. I've since read endo can affect you pretty much anywhere! This is why I'm unsure about having another op like my dr recommends... Is it worth the time off??

Really? I didn't know that they had to test it! Thank you so much,
I'll be calling my gp today. Maybe another laparoscopy is a good idea after all

Closci, your doctor should have sent it to the lab to be tested if he was not sure what it was. Endo can be all over the internal organs other than uterus and ovaries. It is very common on bowel and bladder. I have had 3 surgeries already. During my second one, the doctor cut off endo off of numerous organs. Just frm that surgery alone, I have 29 scars all over my insides. If your doctor doesn't know much about endo and thinks it is just a "painful period" disease, I think you should find another doctor. Good luck!

My grandmother had to have part of her bowl removed because of endo. It obviously can affect that part of your body.

Thank you. I'm going to see another hospital doctor in a month or so to have the injections to induce the menopause before having to have another operation, hopefully this helps!

My recommendation is to seek a second opinion if you're unsure with the first doctors statement. It is possible to have adhesions on the uterus without it being endo. That was my experience however, my lesions didn't come back but the endo started to grow after the lesions were found and removed in one of my surgeries. Not all doctors have the answers so it never hurts to get information from another doctor.
