Is It Possible For The Endo To Grow Back And Spread After Ablation?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a laparoscopy and ablation surgery last year July for my endometriosis. I was just wondering if it is possible for endo to grow back and spread after ablation surgery? The pain I've been feeling lately is WAY WAY WAY more intense than it was last year and in a lot more places.

From what I am learning, it is possible for it to grow back after any kind of surgery, even hysterectomy. I think the ablation could help only because less/no bleeding might reduce symptoms during that time of the month. But it does not stop your body from creating estrogen, so endo can still grow in other places. I've been using DIM on and off and exercising, and that has seemed to help me deal with my symptoms.

Actually it doesn't always come back in everyone. About 85% of people who excision via vaporization never have a problem again.

Until there's a cure, it will always come back.

Yes endo grows back after ablation because the clear root cells are not removed. The fact that you are literally seared on the inside causes the immune response to build adhesions that magnify the endo pain. The best method for endometriosis removal is wide excision via vaporization not ablation. Very few docs are skilled enough to do this. Even fewer docs are able to admit they can't do successful endo surgery. Join Nancy's Nook on FB and look at the specialist listing to find a qualified excision specialist.

It can definitely come back. Also every time you have surgery is a chance for adhesions to also form again.
