Hi,
I am wondering, has anyone else thought Endo has a big impact on their immune system? I am constantly catching colds, run down etc and after I had my surgery, I noticed the year after I hardly got sick and now that I think my Endo has come back, I've noticed I am getting sick a lot again.
It's getting to the point now where people just think I'm being dramatic but I am always genuinely sick!
I am sorry you all are going through this as well but I am happy I am not the only one! I have had pneumonia 5 times. Over the past 5 years I have been hospitalized for a minimum of 3 nights a total of 6 times. I don't even know how many times I have been to the ER because I am sick (all non endo related). Well one of the hospitalizations was for an 8 week long migraine and my migraines are possibly due to my endometriosis. I feel like I am constantly a sick person! I always just thought that my body was too busy fighting off the endometriosis so it could not fight off anything else. But lately I have been reading more and more articles on how researchers are trying to link endometriosis to our immune system. To me this is fascinating! I actually discussed with my primary care being tested for an autoimmune disease because of how often I am sick. Thank you all for letting me know I am not alone.
Yes, your immune system can be worn down by endo. And likewise, if you have endo, you are also more likely to develop deficiencies in your body, prior to my surgery I had 23 bottle of blood drawn looking for everything under the sun! But many of these deficiencies and imbalances that go hand in hand with endo, weaken your immune system.
Yes, I ALWAYS catch colds, flu, infections and have allergies. I remember reading somewhere it's because the immune system is busy fighting whatever is going on in the pelvis therefore it's weaker that what it should be.
I am sick all the time. I have developed allergies and sinus issues and i trully believe it is related to the endo
