Nexplanon Birth Control For Endo Relief
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My OBGYN recommended me getting the nexplanon injection to treat the pain I've been in, has anyone else used this?

I'm 47 and have suffered from endometriosis since my 20s. I didn't have good insurance until I decided to use my VA benefits. So, in June of 2018 I had my right ovary removed due to endometriosis and cysts. I had the Nexplanon inserted into my arm at that time. I started bleeding and having endo pain after about 10 months. Had the nexplanon replaced in January 2020, then started having issues again at the 10 month mark.

The entire time I was on that implant, my endo pain was there. I gained about 40 pounds, was constantly hungry, and completely depressed. I didn't have the energy to pack a 28 pound box of cat litter up my stairs without pausing. My sex drive was gone as well.

I had it removed 11 days ago. No endo pain, no over eating, no depression! I have energy again! Be careful with that Nexplanon.

I think it's a mixture of being painful and doing less, hormones and being hungry

Yeah, she said it is used to treat endometriosis. Have you noticed an increase in hunger and that's why you've gained weight? I definitely don't want to gain weight, but I just don't want to be in any pain anymore so I don't know what to do

Nexplanon as in the implant? I currently have that and I'm not loving it to be honest. I got it placed July last year, bled right through to October with tonnes of pain. I kept getting told to wait it out to see if it will settle. My bleeding HAS reduced but it's less bleeding and more passing clots a few times a week. I'm crampy and sore most days on varying levels. I've also put on a tonne of weight unfortunately. 26lbs to be exact.
