Your first period after the insertion of the mirena... How was it?
I'm having an extremely awful one, not sure whether it's due to being the first one post op or if it's the mirena!
I also had a really awful period after both my implantations of Mirena following surgery. I asked my specialist about and he said that is actually pretty common. He said it should lessen the second period and even more the third until there is no period. This is exactly what happened for me and I have been on the Mirena for almost 5 years total.
I would have old blood for 2 weeks at a time. I lost my mind with it in, so I had it removed a little over 2 weeks ago.
The mirena was an overall nightmare for me. The cramping was worse than normal and constant. I had it removed after 4/5 months due to a host of other issues it caused, but by that time it had indeed stopped my period.
When I had the mirena my periods got progressively lighter however I kept bleeding unpredictably, I later discovered it was trying to expel itself so I had it removed. It did reduce the endo pain before it started to expel itself
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I don't have the mirena, but I've had two surgeries now and I can at least tell you that the first period after both was pretty rough!! I'm not sure why. But it does get better.
