My doctor suggested a Mirena IUD to help with my endo/adeno pain, but it just made things worse. I was bleeding almost every day and had intense pain on top of my regular pain. I had to get it taken out after a few months. If you experience these symptoms, too, it’s not normal! Hope this helps. :)

No it’s not normal my Dr suggested it would slow down or nearly stop my periods and help to control my symptoms and it did just the opposite I bared threw the symptoms as long as I could same symptoms your describing then we had to remove it so up date your physician !

So just to clarify, it would be unusual to not have spotting and cramps for a while after the Mirena is inserted. Your provider should be informing you of all these possibilities but sadly doctors often dismiss these things. The Mirena is supposed to and does improve symptoms in many women. It stopped my periods and has been great for me, but I did have an adjustment period of about 6 months after the first one. Not having periods is a game changer for me. It was really tough the first few months and that sucks and it's not fair we have so few options. The Mirena is not for everyone and ultimately you know your body best. And as I said before, if things feel really wrong dont hesitate to go get an ultrasound to make sure it's in the right place. I hope we have some better non hormonal options for endometriosis patients in the future because we all go through so much already!

Yes I definitely had spotting and bleeding and increased pain for a while after I got the Mirena. After about 6 months everything usually calms down and it has helped a lot. But if something doesn't feel right to you please call your doctor! They can always do an ultrasound to make sure the Mirena is in the right place and hasn't moved.
